Veterans Day

*A lemon slice to show a captive soldier's bitter fate. *Grains of salt to show the tears of families waiting for loved ones to return. *A turned over glass for the meal that won't be eaten. *Red rose in a vase tied with a red ribbon for the hope that all our missing will return someday. |
America's White Table by Margot Theis Raven, illustrated by Mike Benny is a beautifully written picture book that emphasizes the need to appreciate our veterans. Below is a list of items you see on the table and what they symbolize/represent: *Small table to show one solider's lonely battle against many. *White cloth to honor a soldier's pure heart when he answers his country's call to duty. *An empty chair for the missing soliders who are not here. *A black napkin for the sorrow of captivity. *White candle for peace. |

Thank you to students, staff and parents for the extras they were able to find in their own cupboards or purchased for the SACA (Silverton Area Community Aid) Food Bank. We will continue to collect more food items for this organization that provides assitance to our community.Mrs. Delgado's fifth grade class brought in the most items---247! |
